Top 5 Things To Do in San Antonio During AAO

1. San Antonio River Walk

The centerpiece of the city of San Antonio is the amazing River Walk. Beautiful stone walkways and restaurants line the San Antonio River that flows through the city center. Not only is there a wide variety of eateries and shops, it's a great place to just relax and hang out near the calm waters, walk across the graceful bridges, and maybe even catch a little snooze under the large trees that tower over the banks! We have a feeling you'll be spending quite a bit of time here because the convention center and hotels are so close to this great area!

2. The Alamo

You can't really take a trip to San Antonio without visiting the Alamo. It is one of the most important historical sites in the United States. In 1836, the Battle of the Alamo, one of the most famous battles in US history, played out here. Lucky for us, the Alamo is also only a short walk from the convention center, so be sure to check it out, and "Remember the Alamo!"

3. The Pearl District and Farmer's Market

Only a quick 10-minute Lyft from the convention area (or about 25 minute walk) is the trendy, historic Pearl District. This area is filled with cool restored buildings, unique shops, and has a reputation for awesome cuisine and hip restaurants. On the weekends, the Pearl is home to a Farmer's Market with a ton of great local vendors. We recommend heading this way for a fun dinner after lectures one night, and then stop back by for breakfast at the market before you head out of town!

4. Listen to Live Music

Live music in San Antonio is also a must-see! Head on over the Sam's Burger Joint for some live blues and rock an roll! Its also only about a 10 minute cruise from the convention center. You won't be disappointed!

5. Visit the OptoPrep Booth!
